  8. Complete the "William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Application." (Distributed at the end of Entrance Workshop.)
  9. Submit the Direct Loan Application and Questionnaire to your campus Financial Aid Office.

  11. Have all your instructors complete, sign, and date the Verification of Attendance.  All instructors must indicate satisfactory attendance and grades for all classes in session before you can receive a loan.
  12. Complete, sign, and return two copies of your Promissory Note (the third copy is for your records) and the Verification of Attendance to the Financial Aid Office in person.
  13. The first disbursement of your loan will be mailed approximately three weeks after you return your Verification of Attendance and Promissory Notes.
  14. You must attend an Exit Counseling session in person or online before a second check will be ordered.
Please Note:  Long Beach City College has a recommended loan limit of $12,500 including loans from other schools. To exceed that limit, you will need to submit a Loan Appeal Request Form.
The total debt you may have outstanding from all Stafford Loans combined is $31,000 as a dependent undergraduate student ($23,000 of this amount may be in subsidized loans) and $57,500 as an independent undergraduate student ($23,000 of this amount may be in subsidized loans). Exceeding these limits will result in your being ineligible for any student financial aid funds including grants.
