Cal Works Work Study is a state-fundend financial aid program for students on Cal Works. Students on Cal Works are awarded CWWS each fall until the funds are gone.
Students who receive CWWS are assigned to work 20 hours per week at various offices throughout Long Beach City College. Pay is the California minimum wage and students receive their paychecks on the 10th of each month for the hours worked the previous month. Job assignments for new FWS are made in August each year. Students must maintain at least 6 units to receive Cal Works Work Study.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), plus any additional documentation needed to complete the financial aid application, is required in order to receive CWWS. In addition, because the funding of this program is limited, Cal Works students are strongly encouraged to complete their financial aid files by May 1st, the LBCC First Priority Deadline (click on the Dates and Deadlines link to the left for more information about important financial aid dates).
