Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
FSEOG is a campus-based financial aid program. This means that each college participating in the program receives a set amount of money to distribute to its students. The regulations governing FSEOG require that funds are disbursed to the "neediest" financial aid students, which means to those students with the lowest income and the highest cost of education. At Long Beach City College, FSEOG is given to students with a zero EFC, who are not living at home, until the funds are gone.
The standard FSEOG award is $400 per year. Half of the award is given in the fall and half in the spring. Students must be in at least 6 units to receive FSEOG.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), plus any additional documentation needed to complete the financial aid application, is required in order to receive FSEOG. In addition, because the funding of this program is limited, priority for FSEOG awards will be given first to those applicants who have completed their financial aid files by the LBCC First Priority Deadline, May 1st (click on the Dates and Deadlines link to the left for more information about important financial aid dates).
